It
never plays truant-
the fervour and the furore
always the same-
except for the unexpectedness
of the day and the length-
Sudden
and pouring
like you have opened the shutters
of a sea held in check
in the sky-
with the deep passion
of the distant lover
to meet and embrace
its flame - the earth
hurting
in the process-
yet going strong
and finding ways
in the labyrinthine streets
and clogged gutters
of children and houses
of possessions and treasures-
running
forward and yet staying
giving birth to multitudes
death and life to many
yet never disappearing-
only
hiding back in the heavens
to bring the joy and the hell
again
next year.
