"Mermaid" is another unusual painting by Katy Kianush.
This painting is highly detailed and has an ethereal feel. It is as if this beautiful mermaid is beckoning the viewer.
Acrylic relief paints, fresh water pearls, Japanese textured paper, semiprecious stones (peridot and lapis lazuli), beads and real shells, have been used to create a new dimension and uniqueness.

I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.
I do not think that they will sing to me.
I have seen them riding seaward on the waves
Combing the white hair of the waves blown back
When the wind blows the water and back.
We have lingered in the chambers of the sea
By sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown
Till human voices wake us, and we drown.
