Unlike the resurrection night

That's sacred and most holy

Crossing the new year's threshold

Is very much a pagan rite.

We so much feel the need to make it special - like...

...An outstanding feast

Garnished with human glitter

         in constant competition with each other

             sliding from place to place during the years

                 and often changing partners;

But at the time the cosmic chime strikes midnight

They all reach out

         for those awaiting wishes

             - three -

And when the party's over

         They cling to hope with resignation

             Praying to ... some... how ...

                 be around in years to come,

Grow stronger against the enemy -

         the fear -

             that threatens to wrap their spirit in heavy chains;

The fear that one day

         out of three -

             one wish is only left for them -

                 awaiting to be granted.

But those who hear the voice of wisdom

Will lightly rise on tiptoe, hold hands in circle dance

         swiftly twist around with charming smile

             towards life -

                 and wish for three more wishes -
