Sheep that graze pale grass in the shadow
of dark boulders, make this harsh landscape
look softer. Shreds of wool on thorny bushes,
are angel hairs on Christmas tree at homes for
needy children. In morning light, green moss
around roots of crippled trees, are wedding
rings of rancour, near a dry river still retains
an echo of pulsating spring. Eyes feed the mind
and an air condition car this landscape, where
the lowland ends and cruel mountains begins,
looks beautiful, but isn't a place for me to walk
into and have my illusion of bliss shattered by
raw reality.
