This letter I hold
In my hand
To read it over and over
Absorbing every word
I kiss its pages
As I know your
Hand touched it
In the gentle manner
Of your natural way
The movement of the biro
Forming each word
From the creation
Of your mind
Releases in my body
A veil of love
That can encompass
The two of us
Even if you are
So far away
I fall to sleep
With the pages
In my hands
And press them close
To my heart
Feeling your love
As tender and gentle
As those autumn sunsets
Over Oxford's erect spires.
